Introduction

‘There (be)’ and ‘Here (be)’ are both inverted sentences in English. They are not Subjects

The verb be changes according to the singular or plural form of the noun following the sentence.

  • There is a book on the bookshelf.

  • There are some books on the bookshelf.

  • Here is the bus stop.

  • Here are your books.
