In English, there are five basic sentence patterns.
Patterns 1: Subject + Verb

- ‘Remains’ is the action of this sentence, so it’s the verb of this sentence
Patterns 2: Subject + Linking Verb + Predicative

- What is a sentence subject? sentence subject is the subject of the action in the sentence.
- In English, use a Linking verb to link the subject and Predicative, so
isis a Linking Verb. - Predicative is relating to or occurring within the predicate of a sentence.
- Predicate is the part of a sentence that gives information about the subject.

foodis the subject of this sentence, andisis a Linking Verb,deliciousis a Predicative of this sentence.
Patterns 3: Subject + Verb + Object
